Refresh & Recharge!
The Wilkswood Reggae Festival has plenty of food and drink to keep you refreshed and recharged over the weekend. There is fabulous street food with the Jerkshak’s genuine caribbean cuisine, Hidden Pizza’s to-die-for wood-fired pizzas and award-winning Mexican food from Teabag Chihuahua. Add to that some amazing vegetarian and vegan food from Sukhu Lounge and Amrutha, mouth-watering bubble waffles from B8, energy boosting smoothies from Passion4Juice and you can even treat yourself to a Lime Mojito ice lolly from Anna’s Ices.
The Main Barn Bar will be serving ice cold Red Stripe, Purbeck Cider and real ales from the Dorset Brewing Company as well as a wide range of wines and spirits. The RumShak Bar, up on ‘Reggae Ridge’ (opposite the main stage/bar area) will be serving rum cocktails, adult ‘slush’ drinks and fresh juices. To save your poor, tired, grazed and aching legs in the mornings, there will also be a couple of mobile café vans serving tea, coffee and bacon butties in the camping fields.
Authentic Caribbean Cuisine
The acclaimed Jerkshak brings its range of genuine Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine to this year’s Wilkswood Reggae Festival. The menu includes Ackee and Saltfish, Ital Stew, Curry Wilkswood Mutton, Jerk Free Range Chicken, Jelly Coconuts, Patties, Callaloo and Rice and Peas all cooked on authentic oil drum barbecues.
Previous visitors to Purbeck will undoubtedly have come across the Jerkshak in the gardens of the Scott Arms in Kingston throughout the summer months. Owner Nicky originally hails from Jamaica and she brings the best family traditions to her genuine Caribbean dishes. The Jerkshak is open most weekends between June and September and in the winter Nicky organises Caribbean Cuisine Nights to bring a taste of the sun to the colder months.

Putting colour into vegan food!
If you thought vegan food could be a bit, well, ‘green’, a visit to Sukha Lounge will add some colour to your healthy diet. Specialising in fresh, organic, gluten-free, sugar-free, raw and cooked vegan food, Boscombe-based Sukha Lounge are a welcome addition to this year’s festival caterers and prove beyond doubt that healthy food doesn’t have to be boring.
Adventurous with their food, specialities include raw salads, specialist cheesecakes, super smoothies, buckwheat pancake stacks, smashed sourdoughs and much more. If you fancy a mid-festival rejuvenation, try a cup of their Equinox Kombucha, a fermented tea packed with organic enzymes and antioxidants. Community-focused, Sukha Lounge work with their own Dorset coffee roasters and loose leaf tea merchants, as well as organic fairtrade suppliers.
Vegan Soul Food
Innovative vegan dishes and heart-warming classics will be on the menu at the Amrutha Lounge stall. All the food is made from scratch with an emphasis on taking simple ingredients and elevating them to the level of ‘Vegan Soul Food’.

Dorset Brewing Company (aka DBC) was founded in 1996, when founder Giles Smeath restored an 800-year-old brewing tradition to the Dorset port of Weymouth in the heart of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Since then this well-loved and respected family brewery has grown in size and stature. DBC relocated and upgraded in 2011 to a state-of-the-art spring water-fed Jurassic Brewhouse, capable of crafting 1.5 million pints a year.
Striving to produce an individual product representing the very best of Dorset, DBC are leading the way with their popular Jurassic Coast brands as well as some fantastic limited edition craft ales.
The Purbeck Cider Company was born in 2006 when owner Joe Hartle returned to the family farm in Dorset after travelling around New Zealand. He had a brilliant idea to make a farm-pressed cider alongside farming the land with his flock of sheep.
Joe now harvests his apples from September each year to develop the naturally delicious and mouth-watering nectar he presses to make Joe’s Cider, the softly sparkling Dorset Draft, the berry-tinged Dorset Blush and the knock-your-socks-off Muddy Scamp.
