Refresh & Recharge!

The Wilkswood Reggae Festival has plenty to keep you refreshed and recharged over the weekend. There is fabulous street food with the Jerkshak’s genuine caribbean cuisine and Purbeck Paellas to-die-for Spanish dishes. Add to that some delicious wood-fired pizzas, the Wilkswood Farm barbecue, amazing vegetarian and vegan food, mouth-watering crepes from the Lush Creperie and scrummy cakes and there’s really no need to go hungry!

The Main Barn Bar will be serving ice cold Red Stripe, Purbeck Cider and real ales from the Dorset Brewing Company as well as a wide range of wines and spirits. New this year is the RumShak Bar, serving rum cocktails, adult ‘slush’ drinks and fresh juices.  The friendly crowd from Dorset’s Grounded Coffee will also be bringing their own brand of café culture to this year’s festival.

Purbeck Paella

Mediterranean Street Food

Dorset’s own Purbeck Paella love food, and they love sharing food; their love for paella has grown out of both of these passions and they offer rustic style catering, using only the freshest and, where possible, local ingredients in all their cooking. The source all their chicken from a local poultry producer, Piddle Valley Chickens, and use Dorset Charcuterie to make their chorizo using locally sourced pork to our own recipe. Their paella is always free from gluten and dairy.

All paellas are made to the highest standards with a special Purbeck take on traditional recipes.  The basis of any great paella is a great ‘sofrito’ and Purbeck Paella will expertly combine peppers, onions, tomatoes and garlic, fried in a delicious nutty olive oil to create this base, the smell of which alone is guaranteed to get you salivating.

Purbeck Cider Company

Refreshingly Dorset!

The Purbeck Cider Company was born in 2006 when owner Joe Hartle returned to the family farm in Dorset after travelling around New Zealand. He had a brilliant idea to make a magnificent farm pressed cider alongside farming the land with his flock of sheep. Nestled on the Dorset Jurassic coastline at the family farm, Joe busily set to work planting an orchard of some traditional cider apple varieties including Dorset’s Woodbine and Slack-ma-girdle.

Using nothing but fresh air, a deep appreciation of good cider and enthusiasm for life, Joe harvests his apples from September each year to develop the naturally delicious and mouth-watering nectar he presses to make Joe’s Cider, the softly sparkling Dorset Draft, the berry-tinged Dorset Blush and the knock-your-socks-off Muddy Scamp.
