Wilkswood Reggae 2018 Line-up Confirmed!
Three days of peace, dub and harmony featuring over 50 acts across four venues.
With just eight weeks to go, the complete line-up for this year’s Wilkswood Reggae 2018 is now confirmed (bar the usual one or two last minute additions). There are now over 50 acts appearing across four stages over the three days of the festival and what a line-up it is.
The Main Stage headliners have been confirmed for a while and feature three double-headers: Earl Sixteen and Carroll Thompson with the The Uppercut Band (Friday), General Levy and Joe Ariwa (Saturday) and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Mad Professor closing proceedings on Sunday night. Elsewhere on the Main Stage you can see Mikey General, Chainska Brassika, Dubheart, The Hempolics, Don Fe and Prince Jamo.
The Jah Spirit Stage (named in honour of the late MC and ‘face of the festival’) features some of the best UK soundystems including a strong Birmingham contingent in Scientist Sound, Hytal Bosrah and Kindread Sound. Also appearing are Gaz Mayall’s Rockin’ Blues, Iman One Dub, Countryman Sound and Green Lion. Special appearances include Japan’s Direct Impact, a rare set from David Katz and Angus Taylor and a strong showing for female flag-bearers with Warriah Force, Bliss Zion, Sasha Steppa and Sista Emma all taking over during the festival.
The ‘alternative’ DJ Derek Stage features a wide range of acoustic acts, soundsystems, deejays and poets. Highlights include a much-anticipated Wilkswood debut from acclaimed writer and poet Kei Miller, acoustic sets from Krista Green and Alex Hedley and selector sets from DJ Dapper Dan, DJ Sherrine, Naoko the Rock and DJ Ted at the Controls. Curated by the indefatigable Kim West, there will also be appearances from the Bournemouth’s poetry massive with Bob Hill, Myriam San Marco and Nkech Nwokolo as well as a set or two from the enigmatic wanderer, Selah Collins.
As well as the three stages there will be continual DJ sets in the Shebeen, which doubles up as the Chill Out Zone during the day. As well as late night takeovers by Wassmuffin, Box Fulla Records and Mr Mighty, there will be sets from some of your local Purbeck favourites.
A full schedule for the weekend will appear on the website as soon as it’s finalised and you can keep up-to-date with any last minute additions by following our latest posts on Facebook.
